Pectoralis major muscle tear
Rupture of the pectoralis major muscle is rare sport's injury that is becoming more common. Rupture typically occurs at the musculotendinous junction or the insertion onto the humerus when the muscle is under full tension and subject to additional stress. The tear may be complete when involvs all and partial when involves some of the fibers at the site of injury. Partial injuries were considered high grade if more than 70% of the fibers were torn, moderate if 30%-70% of the fibers were torn, and low grade if less than 30% of the fibers were torn. Partial tears are more common usually occur at the musculotendinous junction, whereas complete tears tend to occur humeral insertion. Partial tear of the pectoralis major almost always involves abdominal head. The tear of the sternal head is probably more common than tear of the clavicular head.
